BUSINESS OVERVIEW:

The Rotatives Supply Chain Unit is responsible for the design and manufacture of key compressor components, including compressor discs and drums, casings, shafts, and bladed disks (blisks).

An opportunity has arisen within the manufacturing laboratory function. We are looking for an individual to join the team as a technologist, based at Derby, reporting to the Manufacturing Laboratory Team Leader.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

The primary responsibilities of the position are to:

•Control and develop the special processes required to support the manufacture of compressor discs, drums, and casings
•Ensure the engineering specifications are satisfied for new part introduction and ongoing manufacture.

Continuous improvement, process compliance and control, trouble-shooting, detailed investigations, and non-conformance assessment are key aspects of the role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

The successful candidate will have the ability to work well through individual initiative and in mixed discipline teams. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as liaison with interface areas (internal and external) is a vital aspect.

Applicants should have a degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science or Metallurgy or a related subject. However, candidates without such a qualification but who have significant relevant experience will also be considered.

Knowledge of materials, special processes, and familiarity with quality procedures is preferred.
